Layers, the base layer being the most important. The under armor outfit above is good. Look at Academy for snowboarding type thermals, they aren't really cheap, but they are good. For gloves, they may not be practical for you, but snowmobile gloves rock. Very warm and still have good dexterity.
I worked the flight line in Minneapolis, MN for 3 years, seeing wind chills as low as -60 F, so trust me.

when i lived in wisconsin and had to shovel snow in the mornings i'd put on a freezer suit plus some thermals under my clothes.

I saw these on Wired a while back and wondered if anyone here had used them. This may be an option also.

I work at the same place with a guy that wore thongs.
A dickie coverall might be be much for climbing those towers. I still can't wear enuff cloth to keep me warm but I only wear a hoodie. Thought about going to sun and ski sport to look for winter stuff.

This is good info. I also invested in socks to keep my skinny ass knees from knocking If I had to stand for any length of time.

Carharts and good gloves can be saviors as well. I used to ride my motorcycle in the mornings so the rest of the day seemed warmer! lol!!

Battery powered socks FTW! Gettem at walmart or academy. Stick a D cell in them and your feet stay nice and toasty!

I won't be doing any climbing just working down at the base with a computer

Depends which provider you're working for, but most cell sites have a building at the base of them. I think only cricket and metro pcs put standalone sites in without a supporting building for the network equipment. If that's the case you may be chilly as those sites have AC and usually no heat, but there's no reason to be buying coveralls and shit for work like that. For the last 4 years i've done the same work on the RF side, and only had a need for my heavy jacket. still wear tennis shoes, jeans, etc.

another tip if you buy Carhart clothing most of it runs a little big in sizes. I wear a large but medium in Carhart is perfect

Carhart is the stuff. I also have some silk thermals that are supposed to be the stuff because they are much thinner than thermals. I have not had a chance to try them enough to give them the vote. I got the from Sportsman's Guide.
