In a perfect world. Now remember the Police station is also a business for the city that generates revenue as I am sure the Fed's dont give us enough money for upkeep as it is. Anyways, If an officer is costing the city 40-60k or more a year in salary then he needs to be bringing that in each year in order to be productive for the city....this is just my .02

If the PD was a business, it would go bankrupt. There is no way it could sustain itself. The rediculous thing about PD services is that the poorest parts of a city (that contribute the least to the tax base) demand the vast majority of police (and fire) services. The cost of housing prisoners and prosecuting offenders is outrageous. That is why DAs everywhere use the plea bargain as much as they do. Only a small percentage (around 10% or less) of cases ever go to trial.

I know of a soldier who murdered his whole family. I arrested a (married w/children) Army Major for homosexual conduct in a public park during the daytime. He cried and begged me not to tell his wife.

But I'm intelligent enough to know that these clowns arent representative of all soldiers.

That was ended when the state licensing agency adopted the "Gypsy Cop Law". If an officer quits before being fired, there is a phrase that is used to put on the officer's record that is supposed to prohibit him from maintaining his license.
