I know of a soldier who murdered his whole family. I arrested a (married w/children) Army Major for homosexual conduct in a public park during the daytime. He cried and begged me not to tell his wife.

But I'm intelligent enough to know that these clowns arent representative of all soldiers.

What about the numerous patrol officers that answer calls all day? How much revenue to you think they generate working accidents, assault calls, theft calls, burglary calls, etc????
I wrote a ticket to a guy today for pan handling. How much money do you think the city is going to get out of a homeless guy???

I would think that someone appointed to a position such as yours would be more inclined to educate the "Ignorant" people who do not see the inner workings of the Police Dept. Perhaps the lack of officers correcting the public's opinion of their "ticket quota" is the reason we have this misconception in the first place. That and the fact that it seems whenever the 1st or the 31st are coming up the police are all the sudden running radar, writing tickets and overall giving the impression that they have a "commitment" to fullfill prior to the end of the month.

I'm telling ya, If they do not want us to have this "misconception" on the way a dept works then they should explain their strategy regarding these purchases, equipment, parties...etc

The only way to know that info is to be a part of the brotherhood. No thanks, I'm too smart to be part of that type of organization, besides I like to make money for myself not some self absorbed force/government...

There has been discussion after discussion on this board over the years on this very topic. I've tried to explain many, many things over the years. Matter of fact, I'm coming up on 9 years.

Did I say he is the norm? No. Merely stated I have seen crooked cops as were stated in the article.

That was ended when the state licensing agency adopted the "Gypsy Cop Law". If an officer quits before being fired, there is a phrase that is used to put on the officer's record that is supposed to prohibit him from maintaining his license.

I'm not familiar with the law but if it stopped idiots like him from wearing a badge, good. This was about 5 years ago.

It basically sends the licensing agency a message that the officer left under less than honorable conditions, or left in lieu of discipline.

AFAIK, You cannot work in Texas without a license.
