I don't know how old you are but if you don't take care of this correctly and seriously, it will produce some consequences down the road.

Was driving like a tool, got pulled over was arrested and charged with reckless driving, spent 15 hours in jail and still havent gotten a court date in the mail. This was about 2 months ago.

So I contacted a lawyer, he said the severity of it is consistent with a DWI and for him to take care of it it would be $1500, was told that if I didn't get a lawyer I would be put in jail until I got one. And that since I got arrested, the charge is more severe and is more punishable.

The charge is a class b, 200$ maximum fine and up to 30 days in jail.

I know what I did was dumb, so don't bother trolling me about it.

Is this lawyer a whack Job trying to get $, or is there truth to what he is saying. $1500 seems like a hell of a steep charge for something I'd consider minimal.

Seriously though. YOU consider it minimal. Like being able to get a job? Get it cleaned up. In todays work market I don't even look at applications that have a criminal conviction on them.

Before I just hand over $1500, I'd go to the city you got it in and just talk to them (maybe even a judge?) and see what it will take to get it taken care of. If it's a max $200 fine, they might even offer deferred adjudication. I'd just pay it and move on.
