  • Reckless driving. Part 2.

Ok, I've posted about this before but here's a re-cap.

Was driving like a tool, got pulled over was arrested and charged with reckless driving, spent 15 hours in jail and still havent gotten a court date in the mail. This was about 2 months ago.

So I contacted a lawyer, he said the severity of it is consistent with a DWI and for him to take care of it it would be $1500, was told that if I didn't get a lawyer I would be put in jail until I got one. And that since I got arrested, the charge is more severe and is more punishable.

The charge is a class b, 200$ maximum fine and up to 30 days in jail.

I know what I did was dumb, so don't bother trolling me about it.

Is this lawyer a whack Job trying to get $, or is there truth to what he is saying. $1500 seems like a hell of a steep charge for something I'd consider minimal.

Before I just hand over $1500, I'd go to the city you got it in and just talk to them (maybe even a judge?) and see what it will take to get it taken care of. If it's a max $200 fine, they might even offer deferred adjudication. I'd just pay it and move on.

I don't know where else to ask for advise. This place has more trolls then helpful people. But I figure some of you have dealt with a similar disgusting and would be familiar with it.

I could careless if I get trolled, just throw In some useful advice while you're at it.

Seriously though. YOU consider it minimal. Like being able to get a job? Get it cleaned up. In todays work market I don't even look at applications that have a criminal conviction on them.

I don't know how old you are but if you don't take care of this correctly and seriously, it will produce some consequences down the road.

That was my plan but this lawyer made it seem like it's a bigger deal then that. He said a class b is a serious violation.

I'm pretty sure you could just pay the fine on that one.
