LOL! I was lucky to have a very fun childhood.

Really though my dad was a horrible drunk at the time, but we had money. So rather than spend time with me, he bought me stuff.

My dad built me a minibike with a 5hp motor for my 5th or 6th bday LOL. got a honda 3 wheeler and a racing style go kart when i was 7 or 8, and a honda odyssey when i was 10 or 11. Had a suzuki quadzilla when i was 14. needless to day looking back, i don't think my dad was particularly concerned with my safety LOL!
Sounds like my child hood but the minibike was bought and the go-cart was home-made out of old lawnmower parts. Sucker was faaaast! I later bought a couple of Odyessy's too.

My kids are scary on their Power Wheels. I learned I had to attach a teather just so I could keep them from running into something. My boy did just like that and nails the throttle but won't steer. Of course this is a 6volt Power Wheels Jeep I put an 18volt battery on.

I know what you mean. My son has a honda 50 pit bike. He had two of his friends there and I asked one of them to warm it up for me. (getting ready to run the gas out of it). I sat him on it and showed him the brake, the gas and how the gas works. Told him to go very easy at first on the gas. He gets on it, starts to take off and immediately stands up trying to stop it. Naturally this causes your hand to twist the throttle and he damn near took out the crf150. Actually he let go and it ran straight into the crf150. I laughed and get his other friend and go over the same thing. He gets on it and does the exact same thing except hits the patio cover pole. LMAO, I would think 13 year olds would be a little better than that.

The big field thing is a major one in my opinion. When I learned to drive different things it was always on a 2-3 acre rectangle that I could haul ass around.

Too bad there is a house on it now.
