Pros - Fun, easy to get in and out of the lake, easy to take care of, tunes ups and oil changes are a breeze, parts are easy to come by, chicks dig the fuck out of it and will take off their clothes for a ride.

Cons - Gas guzzler, 2-4 ppl max, loud as fuck even with quiet exhaust, lake cops like to fuck with you, ppl in general will complain at small lakes.
Mostly what this guy just said. I had a Carlson Glastron for a while. It was a 21 foot deep V and held 5 people so semi practical. It was fun to go out on the lake and screw around with. Mine was a 455, ran about 55 top speed and sounded great. Yes they do like to drink the gas for the speeds you get out of them. Find a deep V one as you will hate a shallow one on the bigger lakes. The big HP shallow ones are mostly for ripping around on big rivers.

No shit! Folks are averaging 70-80mph with a few breaking 100mph, with a cooler of beer, radio, fishing poles, bitches, and plenty of storage place for tackle. Oh, and they can talk to each other while hauling ass across the lake.

They aren't as cool, though. Just faster and more practical. Aside from those turbo boats.

That's all true, but jet boats are so much cooler.

This thread is making me miss the custom cheby van we had in the early 80's and the bright yellow 460 powered v hull that we pulled...

                Good Times!

So if anybody has any information about these or wants to sell one let me know. Anybody know the factory horsepower number on either of these engines?
$100 says I can guess what kind of car you drive.

Had one of these with a 275hp outboard when i lived on the Delta in norcal.

ran at about 80mph, and was a fucking blast. Ski Centurion Barefoot Warrior.

Also had a Hondo flat bottom v-drive with a 383 SBC which i never got running right and sold. Want another boat, and this thread isnt helping. I think i want a Stars and Stripes mastercraft, or a 1987-1990 or 91-94 mastercraft prostar 190 this time around though.

I had a 2011 mustang gt though. Sold it so I could move to a different state and switch jobs. Couldn't afford a house payment and rent on top of it.

275hp! That's a stout outboard. I'm really leaning towards an old jet boat because of the price tag and I'm a sucker for the sound of a big block. When I get bored with it ill move to a 23 foot plus ski boat with a big engine. Like a wellcraft, baja or the like.

I miss my Baja, that was a pimp boat. Didn't matter if there was 6ft wakes, plow right through em at 70 mph.
Doing enough racing for 99% of the board!
