They suck? Wiring issues, can be very unreliable, rattle traps, etc. more headache than I'd be willing to deal with.

As for the Explorers, a lot of the same. A coworker had two and they were both giant piles, and constantly in the shop.

For a beater, I want something I don't have to fuck and fuss with. Hence my 4Runner suggestion. They ride better than both, and are very reliable.

Interesting. Every person I've talked to that has had an XJ says they're one of the most reliable cars they have ever had

My mom is still driving her 99 explorer that she bought new (~160,000 miles on it). She beats the crap out of her cars. It's never required more than routine maintenance.

Ive never had one, but friends and family haven't had good experiences. With their experiences, just seemed to be a lot of lemons.

Are you talking about the boxy cherokee, or the grand cherokees?

I can't stand the interiors in the Jeeps, they are uncomfortable and just horribly plain.

4 Runners do seem to hold up pretty well, my ex finace had one for well over 7 years with 200k miles on it, and all she did was basic maintenance, tires, shocks, etc.

If I still talked to her, I'm sure she'd say she was still driving it to this day

Used Jeeps are pieces of shits. Period. I would never trust a used Chrysler product.

I suggest 4runners for a few reasons. Gas isn't ridiculous, they can go on forever with good maintenance, and they are,IMO, nicer than an explorer.

I would also say Expedition, or Tahoe, but gas is just killer these days.

XJ. Grand Cherokees were so bad they aren't even worth mentioning.

Your opinion doesn't mean anything because you started off shoving your foot in your mouth.

The jeep XJ is almost indestructible in stock form. They are plain, ugly, and have dated styling, but I've never met any reasonable person who thought that they were unreliable.

You know i was wanting another c/c truck (gas) or suv but i want it to be supercharged or turbocharged.

Did the 4runner ever come with a supercharger? Im looking for a truck/suv that comes supercharged/turbocharged but the only thing im finding is the POS Range Rovers.
