yes I get frustrated and pissed off at work, by these kids that are juniors and seniors in high school that can not do simple addition and subtraction in their head that should have been learned while they were still shitting their diapers.

when the boss man hires new people and I work with the for the first time or two, im usually hard on them to make sure they get the cash right...i usually test them with something simple like...

example: Customer total is $11.48 and they pay with a $20. I then ask the person what will be the change without use of calculator or anything. the typical response is "I dont know." My response..."you can not subtract 11.48 from 20.00 in your head?" cashier..."No." Me...."Are you stupid or something?"

example 2: Customer total is $11.48 and they pay with a $20. cashier accidentally enters $2.00 instead of $20...no biggie I have missed punching in a zero before. so now the total reads $9.48 owed. I get called to the front because the complexity of what to do next to remedy the situation is completely lost on cashier...it is quite amusing at the bewildered look on their face, like trying to divide by zero.

So I ask them..."Well you entered $2.00 of the $20.00 they handed you...what do you need to enter to make the total $20.00 to complete the transaction?" cashier..."I dont know." apparently subtracting 2 from 20 is too difficult as well.

You must not be shopping at places that have the auto-change dispenser so that the winner behind the register only has to figure out the bills.
