it will be covered Jerm. sucks bro. i got my truck broken into a few years ago on July 4th. filed under homeowners, they "pro-rate" the stuff, then cut you another check for the difference when you show the receipt that you purchased the item again.

      god bless.

Your homeowner/renters insurance would cover it, not the building you parked at. You need to call your insurance company and then you have to make an itemized list of everything that is stolen. You pay your deductable and get back the difference.

D80, 18-200 mm VR was on the camera, so was my back up flash that was like 50 bucks, and they left a lens in the floor board. The tripod was like 250, I can't remember what model it was.

I guess I'll get the info later today and see what I can do.

Actually depends on what your policy says, but it should be covered. Property owner's policy wouldn't owe to cover it. Sucks!

That blows man. I think what people are saying is that you can claim it on your renter's insurance, if you have a policy.

My cars got hit several times in apartments.

I foolishly never had renter's insurance when living in apartments.

That definitely sucks. This is the main reason I don't carry mine as much as I would like. You should make a report just in case it shows up in a pawn shop. (As long as you have serial numbers).

Exactly. Your renter's insurance policy covers theft of items in your vehicle. After having experienced several break-ins of my own, I've made a point of having this. Deductibles can be made pretty reasonable too. My deductible is only $100.

I don't leave anything in my vehicle, let alone anything in plain view.

You could have an empty laptop case in your car and it would get you broken into because the thief has no idea if there is a $3k laptop or nothing at all.

A couple of months ago one of my guys worked a burglary (of vehicle) that the guy had an envalope with $5k in cash in the console.

If a thief breaks into your car, it costs him nothing if he gets nothing.

Weird thing is a coworker noticed his window trim being broken last night when he got home, he parked a few cars behind me and had nothing worth stealing in his truck. Instead of actually just breaking the window, they tried to pry the window trim out of the way for some reason, fucking dumb.

Man, I'll let you know. I'll probably just save some money and try to find a good deal on a D700, though.
