It depends on the upcharge and the location. The cabins are basically the same size but of course you get a balcony. If you go too high you'll get tons of noise from the open decks. Some of them aren't private at all either, you might be in full view of the bridge or the upper decks. Your neighbors can also see you if they stick their heads around.
I'm a cheap ass and always get inside cabins and try for the ones with portholes first. Yeah they are at the front of the ship and you get some wave noises but they are cheaper than the normal insides and you get windows.
Going on one next month and can't wait.
