I totally agree. I was ready to have a very unpleasant conversation with the person on the phone but they immediately processed the payment before it got that far. Just call them and I bet they will do the same for you.

They are a scam. They are holding your money to collect interest on it. They have run this racket for the better part of the decade. I've gone as far as setting a court date with Paypal before over them stealing my money. They took over 4,500 from me. And about 9 months ago, they tried to steal around 25k from dfwm members. Luckily I was able to stop that.

Yah I've lost a fair amount of cash because of them but everyone seems to want to use them so it makes it hard to sell anything. I knew that's why they were doing it but how the fuck do they get away with it. If paypal went belly up everyone would be fucked who had $$ because they aren't fdic insured. prob one of the largest banking system in the world...

This is the first time I e ever sold anything on eBay so it's the first time I've used PayPal. Sounds like I should just stick to selling things for cash on Craigslist.

That's because they are not a bank. They are a scam. They literally can do whatever the hell they want with your money. You have zero recourse or rights with your money. Read the disclosure agreement.

Craigslist would tank if it started charging.

I stopped using paypal about a year ago. I had random charges taken out of my balance at one point. My account got frozen about every week after that was cleared up. Just do money orders now

I guess I'm the odd man out.

The only delay (outside of the standard 2 - 4 day withdrawal to bank acct. process) was a 4 day hold on someone that paid me me with an e-check. I've never had a problem with PayPal, as of yet. Then again, I don't do a lot of monthly transactions or really high dollar transactions with them, because I don't want to take the hit in fees. It sounds like a form of throttling to me. Similar to what Netflix does to people who have big full queues and have quicker than normal turnaround times on BD/DVDs. People who are turning over DVDs at a slower rate get better priority in queue management, simply because it's saving them money in shipping by slowing people down.

We use PayPal for the subscription services for our doctors. PAYPAL has opened claims and disputes because no shipping confirmations are provided, even though I've spoken to god knows how many Merchant Services Reps and explained OVER AND OVER that we sell a service, not goods.

My most recent paypal bitch is that they flagged and disputed a Dr's payment on his behalf. When I saw the dispute, I called the Dr, (a busy neurosurgeon that spends the majority of his days in the OR,) and his response was, "I never opened a dispute, I need my subscription!! Have them call my office."

I responded to the dispute by email and phone. They said that thir fraud dept will not take calls, but can place an outgoing call. They never attempted to reach the physician, so they refunded his subscription. It seems like I can't go two weeks without some sort of PayPal drama taking several hours out of my work week.
