I need to find a helicopter. I think a Huey would be best, but really it could be any helicopter that has enough room for a half dozen people to stand in it.

The ideal candidate would be without an engine or transmission or anything like that. It just needs to look like a working helicopter, not actually be a working helicopter. This is mostly due to price, because I don't need one that's air worthy, and one that's been moth-balled would surely be cheaper.

    Anybody got any ideas?
Just a heads up if you are not already aware. A person can't "stand" up in a UH-1. It isn't tall enough on the inside. The UH-1D and H models have plenty of room if they are sitting or kneeling.

If you need standing space, you'll need something larger like a Chinhook or an old S-58.

I was worried about that, and I think a Chinook is just too damn big.

Well and S-58 is less than 2' taller and roughly 9 feet longer than a UH-1H. That is the length counting the rotor system, not the fuselage alone. You might have some luck finding one..

Yes but with the Chinook you could have a walk in bar type theme

There's a military surplus place in Stanton that has an old chopper on display - It's called Sam's. http://www.samssurplus.com/

I don't know what's for sale or not but it may be worth a call.

I'm sure it is, just a matter of price. That Helo has been up there as long as I can remember driving out west.

If for some reason it's not for cell, they may have a connect with someone that does want to sail one.

There's a Piasecki H-21 at the old Pate Museum. You might see if you can score it cheap, since the museum is shut down and the land is for sale.

                      not to hi jack but...

Why do you call a Rotorway a death trap?

What makes it so anymore than any other experimental aircraft?

For example, this year (a month ago) we had an airstream trailer and an open bar. Next year could be a black helicopter and an open bar.

Blake, if you stay with this idea, and feel it's still workable (considering the stand-up room etc..), I have an idea.

My brother has done some construction work on a couple of hangars for a guy who owns a museum at Lancaster A/P and has several Russian helos he's rebuilding. I could get my brother to ask if he has something relative - for sale.

My mom works at Eurocopter in Grand Prairie. I'll ask if they have anything. They may already have one that's a bar, lol.

Blake, what's the booth theme (PM if you want)?

I've done several shows at McCormick Place and might be able to offer some suggestions or ideas.

                              Just a thought.

Flying banana! That could be a bitchin' solution. I had thought about Pate, but didn't know for sure what was left out there.

No, I'm not usually tight-lipped about it, but I'd prefer not to add googlejuice to this thread by naming it here. Don't want to spoil the surprise.
