I've been running behind, but I'm finally going to get the blind finished tonight and down to the lease this weekend. Hopefully do some actual hunting after thanksgiving instead of just going down there, checking the feeders and getting drunk lol. This will be my first time to deer hunt so it should be exciting. Building the blind has taken much longer than I anticipated, but it went from simple to a completely insulated 8x4 building lol.

Here is a photo of it partially finished, Last night I added a side window and a back one all that is left is to install the track and sliding plexiglass. Don't ask about the roof edge, that was a poorly thought out plan lol. All I purchased for the build was 2x4's and some plywood for the inside the rest is scrap I already had.

This is my uncle with the 8 pointer I shot today. Just as I set up on this buck and go to pull the trigger a fucking bird comes flying out of the bushes and startled me. I hit it a little farther back then I was aiming well this happened at around 5 and he just found it about 2 hours ago.

    damn angry birds

This past weekend off my girlfriends fathers place I shot a 7 pointer and a doe. Here pretty soon I'll go to my buddies place and kill a nice looking buck.

you can find small places like we did... our lease is only 200 acres. There are only 4 hunters but my dad and another guy hardly ever go. we pay $350 a year each and we pitch another $50 each for electric (the electric is billed to my dad and is just over $200 a year normally)

Most good hunting leases are 2k and better, but I know several friends that spend less than a thousand.
This...You will also find that if there is say a 500 acre plot that is PL that only about 225 acres of it gets hunted....Most do make it that far into the land before finding a place to hunt. Of course without the use of a wheeler to haul your kill out you have to be ready for a trip when you kill something...

I'm already getting pumped up...lol. Friend of mine let me borrow his camo clothing and sleeping bag. I'll probably go to store this weekend and pick some stuff up as well.

I'm a gun guy, I really enjoy shooting and working on guns. My in-laws, however, are hunters. The difference in my mind being that they like hunting and guns are incidental to that (for the most part). Anyway, the wife would rather not pay for ground beef, so for the past 2 seasons I have gotten into hunting with her dad, brother, uncle, and grandpa. I'm in it purely for the meat at this point, and since they don't ask me to pay towards the lease fee I'm only looking for doe.

Me with my first deer, a decent sized doe. Taken on the morning hunt of opening day, 2011.
