Of corse it took them staright down which kind of took away from following a nice blood trail...Nothing like a nice blood trail to follow that leads to your kill.....
Fuck tracking deer if you don't have to. If it goes very far, you didn't kill it clean.

you are "supposed to" shoot right behind the shoulder (basically hoping to hit the heart)

I would not consider following a blood trail thru the woods for 40-50 yards tracking.......

I wouldn't either. I just like making 'em lay down where they're at.

Nice and cozy with my Dearborn heater. Dang fingers were hurtin after my .7 mile walk. So far I have seen a small doe and a barely legal 8 point. Rut might still be on. Not too sure, but the buck sure was playful, running up and down the field, then he'd pause and take off again.

                    • A smaller 6 running around sniffing too. I say we are still in active rut. They are not interested in corn. Which is even better now that I hear the oil field guys on the workover rig about a mile frommme

                        • Got my bail blinds set up and corn pile out. Going to sleep early.

Good luck everyone. I hope to shoot my deer before all the job residents come and start blasting.

                            • Whats a good price to charge for a deer lease on a 28 acre plot? Also about how many people would be able to be in there at once?

                              • 1 hunter maybe 2 depending on how thick the woods are.
Where is the lot and how many deer are seen regularly?

28 acre isn't really much land for rifle hunting
