A smaller 6 running around sniffing too. I say we are still in active rut. They are not interested in corn. Which is even better now that I hear the oil field guys on the workover rig about a mile frommme

Nice and cozy with my Dearborn heater. Dang fingers were hurtin after my .7 mile walk. So far I have seen a small doe and a barely legal 8 point. Rut might still be on. Not too sure, but the buck sure was playful, running up and down the field, then he'd pause and take off again.

I wouldn't either. I just like making 'em lay down where they're at.

you are "supposed to" shoot right behind the shoulder (basically hoping to hit the heart)

Of corse it took them staright down which kind of took away from following a nice blood trail...Nothing like a nice blood trail to follow that leads to your kill.....

    Phillips county.

I also don't do leased or guided hunts yet. One day I hope to do a few. Not in the next few years. I've got 4 or 5 good deer. Kansas good deer. Mostly big 8's and a couple nice 10's. The 8's are young.

I want to bring the heard numbers up. It's been hit hard the passed few years by my fathers friends. The shoot from the truck type.
