  • verizon fios bundle customers, in here

How is the quality of their product ? I want to ditch dish, and yesterday chatted with a Verizon rep and quoted me home phone, internet and their ultimate hd 380+ for much less than what I'm paying for dish and at&t. Got online to look at some reviews and its complaint after complaint.

Any fios users here with some real world feedback?
    Thx

I have it and I have no complaints. The internet is fast as hell. I think you need to ask people in your area though, I have heard plenty of people complain but I am not one of them.

Switched from time warner (all kinds of billing and service issues) and have had no issues since. Everyone in the neighborhood we've talked to started with or has switched to fios as well.

Dvr was supposed to be free for the first 3 months but showed up on the bill. They cancelled the charge and extended the offer for the first year plus another 10 dollar monthly discount without me even asking for them

I left Dish for fios and there are lots of pro's and cons.

          1. Speed and quality are great.

          2. Lots of channels.

          3. The DVR is not great by any means.

          4. Their platform is awesome if you have time to tune it, if not you will just get pissed at it.

          5. You trade bad weather for glitches.

Those are just a few major thoughts off the top of my head.

Before I left Texas I just upgraded to the 500 gb dvr. Which was the only complaint I had was not enough storage with the 80gb. I loved everything else. I miss it now days They have crappy service in Colorado and they are behind in technology here.

I have Fios internet and TV and have had no problems with service. The only complaint I have is the dumbass tech they sent out to install everything. It took 5 days and 3 techs to get everything working. The first tech told me that either me or my wife screwed something up even though we never touched the unit. He then called my wife a bitch. Needless to say, I had a lengthy chat with a manager about the situation. Apparently that guy had several previous complaints. We got 3 months free service as an apology.

We have Interwebs and TV and it's THE most stable, reliable service we've ever had. I was itching to switch away from Comcrap for the speeds they were offering when it was announced to be available in my area several yrs back.

My only complaint in 7 years of having it was billing. It was horrendous back in the day but haven't had one issue since then in the first year.

I will not move somewhere that Fios isn't available in.

I use to have the bundle package, but their VOIP and FIOS DVR services was always problematic for me at that time. This was over a couple of years ago. They were using a 3rd party for their VOIP services at that time as well. And it sucked. I ditched them both for DISH and Vonage for my TV and phone service. And have been very satisfied in that regard. However, I did keep the FIOS internet. I have the 25/25 package. It has always been very reliable and headache free. And it's reasonably priced for the bandwidth I'm paying for. FIOS internet is an excellent ISP, especially when coming from AT&T/Comcast cable internet. That wasn't very reliable or consistent, due to it's inherent networking technology.

Had the triple bundle for just over 2 years.

                      Cons:
Sometimes at night the HD box will reset (I think they send updates) and it takes about 6 minutes to work again. Seems to happen every few weeks when I am watchign TV at 2 AM

DVR sucks, no storage (get an external SATA drive) and it always has conflicts (some shows run from 9:00 to 10:01, so the show at 10:00 gets bumped)

The resposne to the remote is slow as hell at times

Friend at work has the same thing, and direct billing (automatically chg his CC), and got double billed a few times, especially if he makes any chnages to the service. I get billed and mail a check to them.

                      Pros:
                      Internet speed is great
Picture quality is great (so was DirecTv tho)
                      Price ain't too bad

i've had fios since they first started implementing it in wylie, which was one of the test markets for it. (wylie/keller) i like the service, the internet speeds are fast, and everything seems to work great. there are some dvr issues, from time to time, as rob said, but they're not terrible. besides, most of the shows are available on "on demand", anyway.

the main issue that i've had with them is billing...when i moved, i called them to discontinue service on the date that i moved. i delivered their boxes to their place in plano, and i thought everything was good. apparently, whoever i told to discontinue service, didn't do it. we started up service with them at our new location and changed our phone number. well, apparently they're not organized enough to call our new number and let us know that they think that we owe them something. (because they continued to charge a monthly service fee for 3-months after i told them to shut it off, even though i had already turned in the boxes!) we didn't find this out until we received a letter from a collection agency! oh yeah, and even though verizon will tell you on the phone that it was their mistake and apologize, it's apparently out of their hands now, and i need to deal with the collection agency. i actually got to someone that said that they would take care of it, and i didn't hear anything for several months, but then i learned that they apparently didn't do anything.

                            SLOW remote

DVR has little storage space and now we are having issues with watching recorded shows. We get an error that the show is unauthorized to watch..?

Expensive and rising every couple billing cycles.

No issues with the channels or internet really. Very reliable, great quality HD tv. We had Time Warner and they were horrible!!!!

                              These!

It's to the point where I am considering going to Dish because of it.
