I try to keep multiple retirement accounts active and follow mortgages to keep my rental property in line as well as our current home. I guess it boils down to wanting to know that I have some security for the future and also want to get the most for my buck along the way.

One hard fast rule that I've always stood by is to NEVER have a credit card. I have expensive hobbies and impulse issues concerning said hobbies. If I were to get some plastic I'd have it maxed out in no time, I'm afraid.

And if your halfway decent with your money there is no reason for life insurance if you don't have kids or a wife. If I kicked the bucket today nobody would be out a dime, there is enough in my savings to cover a funeral, only debt is my house and truck both of which are worth more than whats owed and the camaro and mustang are paid for.
