Buddy I grew up with - Jarod Cravens.

He was JUST in Dallas, went to a World Series game, bought a 2012 Black Charger SRT-8, left Thursday for a flight to Dubai then onto Kabul.

His last FB profile pic from the Tough Mudder run

Super nice guy, had a wife and two kids.

My Dad (a retired Gunny- Korea/Nam) always told me that the only former or ex Marines were either deceased or had dishonored the Corps in some way.

Hobie, Jarod was aslo one of the seven of my employees lost. He was also a Marine who served with another buddy of mine and me back in the late 90's. I must have seen him a dozen times and even as late as last Friday in my office but it never clicked that we knew each other.

Saturday was a tragic day for sure.

Just stick with veteran Marine or just plain ole Marine and you can't really go wrong.

I attended the fallen comrade ceremony today at Camp Phoenix for these 13 brave men and women who were just trying to make someone else’s hell on Earth (afghanistan) a better place and for that, someone who manages this hell (taliban) felt it prudent to take their lifes. It sucked to see the 4 rifles/helmets for the service members and the 9 photos (8 civilians and 1 military working dog who was the rank of an O-6 Army Colonel).

It was a beautiful tribute though with 21 gun salute, bag pipes (by the canadians), Amazing Grace (and what is it with every black man who sings that thinking they are auditioning for America's got talent?) and the who is who of this region (no details going out, security was very tight).

                    RIP to all the fallen.

Yes, RIP to the fallen heroes.

Must have been tough to attend that Keith. I can't imagine the anger that must follow too.

After what part I was involved in during the aftermath and accountability on Saturday, I felt I needed to attend since I was here.

There are some details about the incident itself that angers me the most but that will have to wait until I get back home.
