  • Texas Rangers: Nacho average baseball team

I was watching an episode of American eats and they were doing a segment on nachos. When they got to nachos and processed cheese sauce they gave credit to the Texas Rangers as being the first place to get them. I am surprised with all the talk last year about San Fran's garlic fries they failed to mention that the Rangers invented a Ballpark classic too. They made them for the first time in 1976 at the old Arlington Stadium.
At first people thought they were nacho chips covered in mustard and pickles on top. Its hard to believe that over the years I have enjoyed Cheese sauce and nachos from fast food joints, convenience stores and other sport venues and it all started where I enjoy them the most, watching the Rangers play ball!

You can get garlic parmesan fries at the ballpark. Is there something extra special about the fries at SF ?

I got that it was the first place to use processed mystery cheese substitute in lieu of real cheese.

Yes Nachos were invented in the 40's, but they were not made with the famous processed cheese sauce until the Rangers made them available in 1976.

Yup. I wouldn't want that distinction either.

Nasty stuff, really. A culinary atrocity.
