It's under $300 from DFW and $326 taxes and fees from Tyler. I actually have enough Spirit miles for a free ticket, but after flying them from DFW to Saint Thomas, I have no desire to fly with them again. I've flown quite a bit, and I've never been on a more uncomfortable flight.

It's cheap because flying to LA from DFW is always cheap. Flying to LGA/JFK is ridiculously expensive from DFW, but not from AUS.

Flying anywhere in the northeast is typically expensive. Especially Boston. Canada was cheap Last week for some reason however.

I've flown to LAX from DFW on less than 2 week notice 3x in the past few months and it's usually ~$225 total w/ taxes. SFO is another story...

My trip to Vancouver last month was freakin' $880 RT.

My last trip to lax was 600 something a month and a half ago, flight to Toronto was 600ish, but Boston has always been 900ish for me. New York is pretty close as well.

Wasn't your boss going to cover the whole trip? I'd figure he/she should just take care of it all....

That said, check Kayak and book whatever you want. Whatever carrier will honor a paid ticket on one flight or another to get you to your destination same day.

Don't have the inclination to check, but see if Allegiant flies near you. They are dirt cheap to Vegas.

I said, "Under $300," DFW is $242 total, Tyler is $326, a $168 difference. Tyler is half an hour from us, DFW is 2 hours, so flying from Tyler is more convenient. The question wasn't, "Where can I get the cheapest flight," it was, "How is this announcement on cutting traffic to Tyler Pounds Field going to impact my convenience?"

If I get bumped to a later flight and sit around the airport all day, flying from Tyler is no longer the convenient choice.

Getting me on another Spirit plane would be tough. They're really not that much cheaper, and when you add in their fees, you end up paying just as much for a more uncomfortable flight. I *might* take a couple of free flights back to the island, but I go for comfort and convenience over price.

Since we're on the subject. Chili and I plan on going to vegas December 26-30. Anyone know of any good flight deals because it's about $380 a flight right now. Anyone have any miles they wanna throw our way?
