  • Opinions on Travel Trailers

The wife and I have been thinking about the idea of buying a travel trailer. We don't need some huge 5th wheel just your average travel trailer that can sleep 5 to 6 people but will probably only be used by us two. Since we are only 2 hours from the coast I'd probably just leave it down there for part of the year. Other times it would be used to go out to West Texas. Our budget will be about 15k and we would probably want a new one unless we could find a used one that is practically brand new at a good price. I don't want to buy someone else's junk.

I was just wondering if anyone here owns one. Do you think benefits of having one outweighs the monthly cost? Also if you do own one have you ever figured out the monthly cost of it. Adding up payment, insurance, storage, and park fees.

I have a 24' Jayco and all my suggestions revolve around buying someone else's junk. Fuck payments on a camper.

Have your union get you one for free. Obviously, a camper should be a benefit of working.

I think his point is that the fish got low balled, fucked in the catfish asshole and you paid half price. The worst part was the fish explaining to his fish friends why his asshole smelled like redneck

I searched for several months to find one to use during deer season, but nice enough to take on vacation a couple of times during the rest of the year. Your best bet is to find a one owner trailer that has been stored covered and is being sold be the owner and not a dealer, it takes a little looking but they are out there. I can not tell you how many I looked at the appeared great in picture, but were very disappointing in person. We ended up with a 32ft 5th wheel Cardinal 99 model, one owner stored in a carport and used very little that I found on craigslist.

THat's a good deal. I would definitely buy used, my mom just sold a 28 ft adirondack for $14500 and owed $18k on it. It was like new, you get FUCKED on a new one and there are tons of used ones for sale in this economy.

Not always true. If you find a smaller dealership that has some new ones left that are a model year or two old you can get some great deals. My parents did this a 2 years ago. Then they were ready to get something bigger... they got more on trade for their previous unit than they paid for it. Of course the one they bought was on a special sale as well. They use their trailer about twice a month in the spring and fall and once a month in the Summer. They paid cash and wanted something someone else hasn't trashed.

I'm thinking about going and looking at this one.

My wife wants this one. It's nice as hell but expensive. Plus the couch fabric is ugle imo.

My jeep could pull that. Pretty baller looking too.
