We use players cards at each hotel we play at whether we're staying there or not. Right now, we have offers from all the Harrah's properties, LV Hilton and MGM, so we usually have a good pick of where to stay.

Harrah's and SamsTown points can be racked up in Shreveport, too.

I guess I need to get those. I've been using Wynn and Total Rewards (Caesars, Flamingo, etc.) and therefore only gambling those places.

Where do yall usually stay, what about nice hotels and nice buffets/food? Is it better to stay on the strip or off the strip?

Total Rewards is for Harrahs properties (Rio, Paris, Harrah's, Bally's and a few others. We have the best luck with LV Hilton. It's as nice or nicer than Bellagio and a fraction of the price, plus they give GREAT comps. We really like their casino, too. They are off strip, though, but that's never an issue with us as we get a car every time we go so we can go sight see and get off the strip to eat since it's way cheaper.

We stay where it's free. LOL We'll usually have a 4 night stay free at Hilton and a 3 night stay free at Harrahs properties so when we stay a week, we'll book both and just switch hotels half way through the trip. Like I said before, our favorite is the Hilton-not the younger and total party crowd, really nice rooms, great casino, largest sports betting place in Vegas, great comps and good food. We stayed at Harrahs in May and we liked the location, but the rooms weren't near as nice as Hilton. We've stayed at Bellagio as well-nice rooms and great location, but you pay for it.

I'd rather get a car with the money we save and stay at Hilton. You can always drive and park for free at any of the hotels so it really doesn't matter where you stay as long as you are prepared to rent a vehicle.

Keep talking, im listening. Im a Hiltons Honor member, been using their hotel chain for about 20 years. I usually get free rooms for my trips with my points but I used them all up this past summer. So im assuming that you mean, rent a car so you can sightsee, like places like the hoover damn and some of the places Tali and Danny went to in the area? Also this food your talking about, resturants or off site casino buffets?

IIRC, LV Hilton doesn't honor Hilton points. You can only get comps through playing in their casino. I have a big Excel spreadsheet with a shit-ton of things to do (on and off the strip) that keep us busy when we're there, including some of the things Eric and Danny did. YES-rent a car. There's so much to do/see: Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Shelby museum, Grand Canyon, the largest car collection that has some badass cars, amazing restaurants, hotels that are so grand and over the top, it's entertaining just to walk through, etc...

I can send you the spreadsheet so you can get an idea. Just pm me your email address and I'll send it to you.

For shows, must sees are: Beatles Love and Vinnie Favorito. A lot of people like Blue Man Group and several of the other Cirque shows.

Restaurants-we usually just hit some of the places off the strip (fast food during the day) and maybe a sit-down nicer place at night. Not eating on the strip saves a TON, but there is one restaurant you have to try-Hash Hash a Go-Go. IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE! You can get a $25 gift certificates for $2 when you catch www.restaurant.com having a sale. It's pretty pricey, but the portions are insanely huge and it's absolutely delicious.

Last I heard the LV Hilton is not going to be a Hilton much longer, they lost their franchise agreement.

                    That is correct..

When I was travelling a ton for business I always stayed at Hilton properties and racked up a ton of points. LV Hilton did not accept them.

The Hilton is really nice. We stayed there by accident when we got married there. We had to get a room last minute one of the nights and they were the best deal for that night. After that the comps started rolling in. It's about 2 blocks off the strip, on the north end right by the convention center. Even if you don't rent a car they have a Monorail stop so you can always cruise that to get back and forth from the strip.

I have stayed at the following Vegas hotels:
                    Sahara (gone)
                    Mirage
                    Hilton
                    Venetian
                    Bellagio
                    Harrah's
Imperial Palace (comp'd but won't stay again)
                    Sam's Town (Way off strip)

I want to say one or two others (I know at least one downtown).

My favorite of those for quality and value is the Hilton. On strip, I think the best deal vs location and price was probably Harrah's. Rooms aren't great but the location is good and price is reasonable.

Venetian was very nice (all suites) but full of douchebags. Bellagio was very nice but you pay for every bit of it.

We have mostly based our plans on who gives the best comps and who has the best price for quality.
