Random person calling and threating

Long story short, some random person keeps calling from an UNKNOWN phone number. I finally answered it a few days ago and some guy whom I do not know start threatening me, "watch your back, I am going to get you, etc, etc."

I have already filed a police report and told the phone company. The Detective was very nice, but said that it could take weeks to get the info from the phone company because of the need for a subpoena. The detective asked me if the phone company told me how to trace the phone number by hanging up, and running a trace. I told him that they said nothing and that getting through their phone tree takes about 20-30min for a rep to answer.

Anyway, I am just curious if anyone knows anything about running traces, or unblocking a blocked number somehow, or anything else that may help. There is really no back story to any of this because I have no idea who the guy is or what the hell he is talking about.

You do not need to answer it. You use after the call either after it stops ringing or if you answer it and hang up. Just keep in mind though, if it is successful, I believe you will be charged. Also, I don't think they will give you the info, the PD will need to get it from them. Don't think this will work with cellphones. If for whatever reason the *57 does not work for that call, you can ask them to put your # on trace. It will log every call that comes in, just make note of time when call comes in if you're actually there. This is for AT&T, but should be similar for other carriers on landlines.
