Which would you buy

I've been wanting a King Ranch for awhile, but have been putting it off waiting on either a newer body style or the redesigned motors. The problem now is no one has the truck that I want optioned the way I want it. I want a 2011 F150 King Ranch 4x4 with Ecoboost, Off Road Package, Navigation, Moon Roof, and chrome steps. I don't want one with all the other bs crap that adds up to thousands of extra dollars. Like 20" rims, tailgate step, ect ect. Right now my only option is wait and hopefully a dealership has a truck like I want on order. Or I place an order for a 2012. The biggest problem with this is the 2012 won't have any incentives and the 2011's have $4,500 right now.



The other option my salesman mentioned is I just buy a 2011 Diesel 4x4. Granted the Diesel won't be a King Ranch or even a Lariat, but I can get a Diesel 4x4 pretty optioned out for the same price as the F150 King Ranch. I like the idea of owning a Diesel, but to be honest I don't pull much of anything and I'm not sure I'd like the added maintenance cost of the diesel.

Current 2 year old King Ranches sell for about 35k with decent mileage. I'd be paying 42k for mine, but I get what you're saying. The only other benefit is I plan on keeping this truck for at least 8 to 10 years. My current DD is 8 years old and has 123k miles. Been paid off for 4 years so I got my money's worth out of it.

i just have a hard time paying that much for something that is as usefull as my $12K ranger to drive around town. seems like a waste unless it's actually big enough to tow a large trailer.

Bought my wife a '10 model Platinum F150 with 10k on it a couple months ago, and I gotta say, that is one damned nice truck. If you haven't looked at that package it's worth looking at as it's probably a bit more loaded out than the King Ranch.

Sales guys, what is the pecking order in models these days? What with the Limited, Platinum, King Ranch etc it's hard to keep them straight...

The new seats are suppose to be alot less maintenance and keep there look, color, and feel alot better than the older versions. Of course the trade off is the leather isn't as supple as the older seats.

A good friend of mine works in the full service carwash and detail supply industry....the guy is really knowledgable in manufacturing materials used in and on today's vehicles...as well as what is offered and being used to maintain them....he's always doing some sort of training, market research, etc. He was telling me about the King Ranch interiors last year when I was looking at one....I recall his analogy being something like he'd rather own a black laquer car that is parked daily in a sandpaper garage....

Just my own worthless opinion.....Honestly I wouldn't buy any of that King Ranch stuff. I'd get a basic truck with a few things and drive it until the wheels fall off of it. That is just how I like it. If you want to get crazy then get a diesel and maybe a 4X4. All the extras are great but not necessary, if you want a luxury car then buy the car, this is a truck.
