I had my heart set on a c5 z0. even found the car. Then i made the mistake of driving a friends C6 and it was over.

C6 all the way.. Avoid 05s... if you dont plan to go crazy an 06 is fine, but the ECU has some limitations.. If at all possible try pick up an 08 with an LS3.. LOVE mine.

I had an '03 Z06 as a daily and have driven some C6s. It was the most fun car I think I've had in terms of overall performance and handling balanced perfectly with the power it had. I think the Z06 is a little more of a driver's car in the way it handles and cornering feedback than the C6. Z51 package on the C6 helps some in that department.
        I would choose the Z06 over an LS2 C6, but I would take a Z51 LS3 C6 for sure.
All that being said, I was in the market for a C6 and I do like the looks and interior quality over the C5 but I ended up buying an '01 C5 instead. The guy had more money in receipts for the drivetrain alone than I paid for the car!

I had the same debate when I got mine, in the end I went with an 06 C6 with the Z51 package. To me the C6 is just a better looking car both inside and out, just stay away from the 05's some of those had issues with the electrical and had a weak rearend that they changed after 05.

The C5 FRC is the bee's knees as far as looks in my opinion, but the '08 and up C6 with the LS3 is the cat's meow on everything else.

WEll thanks for the feedback, I was aware of 05 c6's, but didn't realize 06's had issues as well. It would be great to consider a LS3 C6, but they are not in the same category of pricing.

The really nice c5 z0's seem to 20-24k, where the ls2 c6's are 25-26k. I have nothing but time. Obviously I would love a c6 z0, but no where possible. When I see a c6 z06 next to a standard c6 it just makes me think the standard c6 looks bad.

Since I don't know a lot about these cars it worries me to look at modified cars... to me it's scary to buy a modified car and have it potentially be a lemon. It's hard to find cars that are exhaust and intake only as well, the vette guys seem to be no mods at all or they get to work straight away w/ HCI

What you want is out there, just keep looking. When I sold my '03 Z06 it was stock except for LG longtubes and midpipe.

That's about $10k too much for that car.

                          Exactly!
Very nice looking car, but overpriced by a far amount.
Unfortunately, in most corvette owner's/buyer's eyes...that car is still just a 1999 FRC, not a true z06.

                          I sold my 434ci c5 z06(18k miles) for $30k in a week.
Somewhat similar to the car above.

I've owned a 2001 as well and it did have the notorious blow-by, but it really wasn't a big deal to me.

Saw that one on corvette forums... but the price was higher over there last I saw. Seemed like a good price and a nice car.

What are the differences really between the 01-02+ z06's?

Mainly different cam, valves, and valve springs. 385hp vs 405hp rating.
