The last thing I try and achieve on this website is a "cool" status...

The video had cars torn apart all over the place, a fucking boat on the street without a trailor, houses on a slant with no windows and missing half its roof. Please tell me what purpose any of that is? By bulldoze you are assuming I am talking about the people too.
Yeah you know what you are right I took that the wrong way. I just hate people saying shit about a city when they've never been there or know anything about it. I have some family from there and it's not ALL bad but there are alot of bad areas. Like Stevo said maybe just start over and judging by most of it that video you would be right, and you are also right that no matter what you build you won't just change the people like that

i've been to Detroit a bunch of times, my stepmom's family is from a town a couple hours north of there. It is definitely the most ghetto and depressing major city in the US, by far. Greenville Village is definitely the shit though with the Henry Ford museum, although the entire automotive exhibit is closed through the end of the year due to a revamp/restoration of that part of the building. There are some pretty bad ass cars/history in that exhibit. also the Ford Rouge factory where they build the f150s is there too and you can tour that facility as well. Overall, I would say no, sports teams will never make/change Detroit. It will never be what it once was, there's too many SMF's. Now if there happened to be a plague that wiped all of them out, then I would say the chances of Detroit bouncing back to some of its former glory would be alot better. LOL.

Detroit was headed for ruins when the unions negotiated the workforce right out of the industry on top of a crashing economy. Even worse, though, it brought out the hood rats in most of the population, turning the city upside down while all the decent people that wanted to make it, adapted and moved out of the area.

There is a reason people can buy houses for like a grand out there and they still don't sell.

The muslim infestation in Detroit has not helped matters.

Guy in the desk across from me was a paramedic in Detroit and his family still lives there. He will tell you "most areas are off limits to whites and for the most part it is a turd circling the drain".
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

If that would bring enough people back to Detroit and start a revitalization.

With the Tigers having done so well and the Lions off to an undefeated start (as of this very moment), I wonder if the city will see any significant, long-term benefit?

I'm not a huge sports fan, and have mainly grew up on motorsports, so I probably don't have the best perspective. But I did live in Cleveland, OH both pre and post Labron, and just having him on the team really brought a lot more people (commerce) to that city. Not sure it had any real long-term benefit, or if it's still too soon to try and determine that.

Just interested in what others might think.

Part of the problem is that it's so cold in the D.

And thats not held in Detroit..

Born and raised in MI....not much going on there anymore and successful sports franchises certainly won't help the local economy much...Even when things were "good" the city itself was a "drive in, drive out". Go downtown early, eat dinner, goto whatever event you were there for and go home. I never had any reason to consider staying downtown overnite...casinos might be the only exception for that...

Burbs were and still are nice, but the city itself..
