Some idiot redneck killed himself and his passenger out here by me this weekend...although it wasn't raining yet....I think alcohol, high speed, and a tight curve on 407 were the contributing factors. He managed to split the truck in half....bed was literally wrapped around a tree and the cab came to rest ~50yds away on fire....burned them both up and started a pretty big grass fire too.

Every time I've driven by this weekend there's been people walking around out there looking for stuff....most appeared to be crying too. Must be family members.

Be safe people...think about shit like this....if you fuck up like this guy, you aren't just hurting yourself.

I must be getting old. I drive slower in the rain, snow, ice etc. If you want to ride my ass, have fun, because I am not going faster or moving. Everyone is a professional driver until they hydroplane/hit a patch of ice and crash.

i know i hate it too. People still fly right by you like nothing when it first starts to rain. I see it a lot with trucks and suv's. Those are the ones you see wrecking first usually

I love the rain 'cuz that means my tires don't wear as fast as they normally do. I'm still getting used to being able to pop the ass end out on my mark with my lok.

Since everyone here is a car guy/girl. we should all know how to drive in these condition. I get scared at time driving in the rain and at time drive the speed limit +5 with no worries. they should only make all season tires. For those dummies that can't drive from dry to wet pavement.

Screw you guys that are getting rain...

Every spring here when the pine trees start blooming and there is suddenly yellow dust/slime on every car, the first time the streets get wet it seems they are covered by slime, no matter how good your tires are, in heavy braking during that week or three is very 'iffy'. I thought people were full of shit when they first told me that when I moved here, until I slid through the first time stop sign with tires that were four weeks old.

maybe 4wd's in ice/snow, but in rain? I promise you my 9000lb truck with fresh rubber on it ain't gonna hydroplane on shit! LOL

even with good tires if they are econo sized they will hydroplane easy in puddles. panic and yank the wheel and you might get to test the airbags

I would agree that it is much much harder to hyroplane in that boat you call truck but I would imagine the faster you are going the easier it would be for that beast to hydroplane.

Yes..... I drove to Austin a year or so ago during some bad rain, my tires had probably 45% tread left and I had to go 45 the whole damn time. It was horrible, I felt like I was on ice skates. I have a Ranger now and I feel like pimpshit on the road and look for puddles to stomp on.
