Several years ago when I worked at DART (we were required to wear steel toe boots) I tried all the ones wal mart sells over the years...and found them to be uncomfortable, overpriced, and poorly made. I found a set at Academy made by Brazos (plain black service boots) that are..get ready....$29.99..and they last MUCH longer than the previous ones I've worn, are comfortable as hell...and I'm on my 3rd pair in about 6 years now (railroad use is VERY hard on boots)

And Red Wing king toe is where it's at.
Thats what I wear. Comfortable as shit. And I wear the cowboy boot style, not lace ups.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

There's absolutely zero chance that currently manufactured Dr Martens are as good as the American made Red Wings. I seriously can't break them. I keep losing them, and they will get ugly, but it's pretty much impossible to be harder on shoes than a 275lb+ guy climbing in them from what I've seen.

just fyi..i have had 4 pairs of the DR martin cowboy style boot. i only paid for 1 pair. if you buy from academy you can take your old pair in and get a new pair. every pair of mine had started leaking(i work in oilfield and get all sorts of chemicals and tears in them over time) and academy has given me a new boot every time.
but now i am wearing ariat square toe in the steel toe version and i love them. they are not as comfy as the dr martins but they have held up over time alot longer.

I'm talking work boots here. I've had a few guys who have had soles come apart after a couple of weeks. The boot wasn't wore the fuck out in those two weeks, it was just a bad run. It happens.

I got a really great pair at the Army Navy Surplus store on White Settlement. They don't have a brand on them anywhere. They are very comfortable but a little heavy. Might check them out as an option. When the government pays, the government controls.
