Yes. One of the things that kept me from starting again.

Although, when I was smoking and working in picture framing, some lady brought in this old framed picture in to be redone. It belonged to a chain smoker and had a thick yellow film all over it. I was dared to smell the glass from about nose-tip away, which I did, and then I began dry heaving uncontrollably. I imagine I'd have yacked right away if I didn't smoke at the time.

Only after a few months of quitting. Before that I couldnt smell cigarette smell on anyone but now its easily detectable.

One weird thing about me though, even when I was smoking I couldnt stand being sleeping in a place where smokers smoked.

I'm the same way. When I'm on the road, non smoking rooms only. I've made exception a time or two, but typically only when it's a downtown hotel and I'm on the 30th+ floor, with no balcony. Even then, it's only been once or twice.

I'm on day 5. Quit cold turkey and it fucking sucks so far. My wife wants to try chantrix. I talked to a 60-70 yr old woman at a truck stop that had quit by using that. She said it gave her crazy sex dreams that she hadn't had in 30 years. I didn't know whether to be turned on or disturbed.

Should have asked her if she wanted to make them a reality.

I quit in Feb 1997 and smelling smoke does not bother me at all, nor do I crave one. I used that damn nicorette gum a few times for a week, it tasted horrible so I switched to trident or dentyne maybe. Started smoking in '83, so I didn't smoke too long, like some on here have.

Anywhooo, good luck, stick with it and you'll be smoke free for good!

Forbes, you should really let someone look after all of your guns and ammo while you're taking the chantix.

Quit cold turkey in November of last year...something about going to the ER at Baylor with blood pressure of 220/140 makes you realize you better shape up or ship out (docs words). I don't miss the hacking cough, the smell on EVERYTHING, or the 5 bucks a pack. I took a drag off one about 3 weeks ago at a party and about puked...I can be around others who smoke as long as the smokes not excessive (too much smoke makes my eyes burn)..but I really don't care for the smell. BP is now medicated and normal and I feel a lot healthier.

This always makes me wonder if some people are just more prone to hang onto and addiction than others. Is it willpower, genetics, laziness?

I've seen a few people capable of just quitting tobacco one day just because it's stupid and bad. But everyone here seems to struggle really hard. Maybe it's just those that post about it?
