The average gdp growth was higher before the Fed, even with the larger depressions averaged in.

In a nut shell our government decides to use our tax dollars and have the federal reserve print money, which devalues the rest of the money out there, in order to bail their corporate friends out of trouble for making very, very bad decisions and nothing really changes to prevent it from happening again nor is anyone held responsible. Atleast that's the part I agree with...

Um well I'm sorry that apparently you shit your brains out this morning bronco. It is kind of funny/sad how you had nothing left after I called your bluff. I'm college educated, almost 30 and married with a kid so I don't quite fit your hipster profile. I will be sure to call your mommy commending your efforts to carry on a big boy debate. I'll hop on the computer later and educate you on American economic history if you like.

Smaller credit markets, massively smaller number of users of credit. Al P's right, the system is quite flawed, but a return to the gold standard is impractical and, for all intents and purposes, impossible.

And BTW, in my opinion there is no solution, hoping for an utopian democracy where there is no corruption or political abuse of money and power, etc is stupid and impossible. My hope is that this clusterfuck of a nation hangs together long enough for my family and I to live a full and enriching life, and ill be happy with that. I see more and more people breaking from the sheeple mindset as democracy continues to fall apart and maybe something will happen then. Who knows.

I have come to the conclusion that any kind of good-intentioned government will fail if the people will put up with corruption.

And that is what we are seeing. We're all fucked.

Holy shit that pic pisses me off, when I went to college I worked 11pm-7am in an aluminum foundry, then went to school during the day, on top of working at a fast food place on the weekends.

There was credit before the Fed because banks existed. When there was a major economic contraction there was no credit. Increasing the money supply increases available credit. Lack of credit causes recessions. Lack of credit makes recessions into depressions.

Lol at you quoting some figure on GDP growth from the 1800s to support anything. How was the growth rate for 1810 calculated? Did they use magic? it's just absurd.

I work for a Harvard MBA who worked in a bottle cap factory in Philadelphia to get through school. I wonder if any of the limp dicks in those photos has ever worked in a place like that? I forgot myself though, he is obviously priveleged and the system is fucking broke.

Consider it an experiment in increasing the money supply without printing anything. Of course by default you have to take planned interest as a given and forget that loans carry risk. But whatever man, minimum wage imposed by the fed
is poised to go to $12 an hour! And the end is unlimited!

fucking paper and ink isn't even an expense anymore. Bits and bytes trim the fat...

Lack of credit causes depressions? Ok....I guess it doesn't have anything to do with how people over extend themselves. Shit we should have a booming economy with this 0.25?!?!% interest rate.
