Some people aren't motivated by a 'it's ok, we'll get there next time'. I was just talking about this yesterday. I really try not to be such an asshole these days. When I have a problem with one of my factories, I make a call, bullshit back and forth, ask how their kids are, and make various small talk. Then I get to the point on what I need. Shit never gets done. I have to turn in to a dickhead, send emails riddled with f bombs, yell at someone, ask if it's necessary for me to hop on a plane and fly to ___ to do their job for them. Then shit starts happening within minutes.
I don't like having to do this, but I'm damn good at it. My factories HATE me, because I'm "abusive" of their employees. If they'd do their goddamned jobs in a timely manner, they'd never see that from me. On the flip side, my customers love me for it, because they've seen/heard me do it several times.
I'm in sales. When goals aren't met, there is a come to Jesus meeting. Period. Think Glengarry Glen Ross. I don't expect to be coddled, I don't expect to get a pat on the shoulder, or a 'better luck next time'. I expect to be called on the carpet when I fuck up. It's just the way it is. If I hated it, I'd find another career rather than complain about it. I know what I signed up for. I understand where it can be a beating, but if I needed kudos and props, and couldn't take a little heat, I'd find a new career. And sure, some people are motivated by different things. A good manager knows what motivates each person. Sounds to me like a lot of you are just flat out soft, and need the beatdown to get the fucking point.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

I'm going through this BS right now. My boss doesn't understand that if she wants to lead, she's got to lead from the front. If a particular goal is important to her, she needs to throw in with us, not stand over us and keep telling us to do what she already told us to do. I'm asking for a transfer today.ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh

I don't disagree with you at all, sometimes it is necessary to become the asshole boss that no one likes, sometimes. Being that guy all the time is not helpful for anyone though. I'm not expecting a better luck next time either though. One come to jesus meeting every so often is all that is necessary, after that, its just beating a dead horse. My question is where do you draw the line on being a prick and being a good leader?? They are not one in the same!2009 Mercedes C63 AMG
