Seriously, I would buy a 6 speed Brembo car in a second, but I refuse to buy new and the used '11+ haven't really come down in price all that much. I could swing the payment, but cutting the payment in half on a car that's a few years old it would be much easier.

He's thinking of Danny's new '12 and got Danny and Don mixed up. I mean, they're both short and bald, so I can see how it would be easy to get them mixed up.

My speed3 rocks. Haven't noticed too much of a performance difference between the two generations stock anyways. The newer Gen seems a little better equipped on the inside. Haven't had a problem with mine but I've only had it for a couple months. By far the most fun car to drive I've owned.

just didn't fit me ergonomically... the steering wheel and the shifter were miles away from me.

shifter is easy remedied with a longer/different shaped lever, but no telescoping wheel = no love from me

as fucked up as it sounds, the LTD II wagon I sold earlier this year with the factory non-reclining power seat and a nice long hurst shift handle was the most comfortable vehicle I'd driven in maybe forever! LOL

The Mazdaspeed 3 had a really good reputation for reliability.

You might also want to look at the HHR SS. It has 260HP with the 5 speed. GM even sells an upgrade kit that gives you an additional 30HP for only $650.

On the downside, it has a cheap interior when compared to the MS3.

                              Other wagons I like:
                              VW Jetta TDI
Audi A4 or A3 (harder to find the A3 but more in your range)
BMW 328i Sport Wagon... but I'm a little biased..

                                The HHR is an abomination.

TDIs look good on paper, but I refuse to buy ANY VW/Audi product. Based on the experiences of family and friends with those cars, they are giant pieces of shit. Electrical problems, drivetrain, suspension, endless issues. The motors seem to be well built, but everything around them tends to be problematic. Great cars to own in warranty, money pits to pick up on the used market.

The bimmer wouldn't be half bad, though... but parts costs scare me.
