No, i called bofa customer service and asked that exact question. It doesnt matter. As soon as you use the card at anyhing but an ATM, bam - $5 mthly charge.

Fuckers. We just switched all of out accounts from Wells Fargo because they are doing the same thing. I guess that was a waste of time.

If anything it will help me. I will use my credit card for all purchases. This doesn't apply with bill pay though, or does it?

Online banking is fantastic with USAA. All my accounts are shown on my home screen so I immediately see the balance of all of them, even though I usually am only concerned about checking. Debit purchases update within minutes usually; they have an option to get free texts any time you have account activity. You get to pick which accounts are alerted, and for what amounts; for instance, any time any of my accounts gets a withdrawal over $200 I am texted, along with any deposits so I can keep track of any possible ID theft, plus I know that I got paid on time. And I know when the wife goes clothes shopping! She hates that part. My credit card takes a couple of days to update, but it is American Express so that might be why. They are also really good about contacting you if they think you have funny activity; when I built my AR I spent a lot of money online on one purchase which was unusual for me and they alerted my then next day to make sure everything was OK. Debiting my account for my mortgage (USAA) and CC payment (USAA) usually takes a few days but never any late fees as it shows submitted as the day you actually submitted it.

The only banking complaint I have is it took forever to add my wife to the account and get her a debit card. But, when I finally got pissed enough to contact a manager she got it straightened out pretty fast, so even though they have some fuckups they seem to give a shit about fixing problems and making customers happy.

I also had some problems getting my mortgage, but that was a whole clusterfuck involving immigration, the state of Texas, and a bunch of retards at the realtor, and the Philippines, and FedEX. None of it was USAA's fault but my mortgage agent was helpful as shit at getting things solved as best as she could.

Non-direct deposits are easy; they mail you deposit slips and you just mail the check in; I am sure there are faster ways I but I get physical checks so rarely that I never looked into it further. Maybe a week or two to process that way. If you qualify for USAA I'd consider it.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

Another vote for USAA. I also have a Chase savings acct that is linked to my USAA accts. I can deposit cash or checks at any Chase branch and then electronically pull the funds to USAA. It's an easy workaround for depositing cash and as long as you keep $300+ in the Chase acct, theres no monthly fee.

USAA mortgage has some terrible reviews on their own site so I opted to use a local lender, but aside from that I use them for almost everything else.

ahh, now I remember the lady at the bank telling me about the charge... I asked how I could get around it, and she said if I had an automated monthly deposit to each account that I wouldn't be charged. So I just set up a $5 transfer from each account to another every month, and I don't get charged

If you want to blame someone, blame Congress, they are the ones who started passing stupid laws to try to get votes from the bank hating mouth breathers. The store you charged at used to pay these fees, thanks to Congress it is now going to come out of your ass if you use a debit card. Every bank will have this sort of charge eventually.

Chase. If your financially irresponsible though, you will be happy with no one.

I love it when people bitch about the banks charging over draft fees. It's their own damn fault. My sister works at a bank and says some people will pay hundreds of dollars a month in over draft fees. They are that bad managing their money.

Also all the new rules to help shitheads that couldn't pay their bills on time is going to punish us people that live right. Same with the housing industry and modified loans.
