What are you trying to say here?Originally posted by Bassics View PostYou realize you are still with Nations Bank essentially, right?
Not that I disagree, $60 a year for what it buys is fine by me too.
The only thing I realize is if you have a Nations bank account, you are an old mofo.

Bank of America was a subsidiary to Bankamerica Corp, when Nations bought out BAC they changed everything over to the little bank's name for marketing purposes. They used BAC's charter to do all this.
Anyone who had a Nations account would have eventually seen it become a BoA account.

I know the history. I just don't know what the point of saying that was. I thought there might have been something else to it.Originally posted by Bassics View PostBank of America was a subsidiary to Bankamerica Corp, when Nations bought out BAC they changed everything over to the little bank's name for marketing purposes. Just because he said he had issues with nations and they all went away when he moved to BoA. He really didn't change much of anything.Originally posted by mstng86 View PostI know the history. I just don't know what the point of saying that was. I thought there might have been something else to it.

That's pretty much what I meant when I said I came from Nations Bank. Just meant I've had my same account since the early 90s, possibly late 80s. Even though I was only like 8 when I opened it....Originally posted by Bassics View PostBank of America was a subsidiary to Bankamerica Corp, when Nations bought out BAC they changed everything over to the little bank's name for marketing purposes. I never said Nations treated me badly. I just meant since the name change to BofA on my account and statement, BofA (as that name) has treated me good.Originally posted by Bassics View PostJust because he said he had issues with nations and they all went away when he moved to BoA. My mom was the HR Manager for NBC bank in Corpus when I was growing up, and we still opened my first account with Nations Bank back then.

I assume you can't use USAA if you or anyone in your family isn't military correct?
I find it amazing congress is passing the fees on to the consumer instead of the businesses.... atleast its a write off for the businesses. They want consumers to spend money to stimulate the economy, yet they continue to find ways to charge us to spend OUR money. What a bunch of assholes.

It is a requirement to have someone whom is currently or was active military to open a USAA account? My dad was in the Air Force 30 years ago? Wish they had a banking center closer.. Same with TTCU.
I need free checking/savings/debit/college student/always broke/poor ass account. BofA dropped my campus edge checking, $12+$5 a month is rape when every penny counts when you don't qualify for any grants and are paying your own way through! Fuck student loans!

BofA still offers the free e-banking account, where you use the ATM for deposits and paperless statements. It will get a $5 charge come next year for the checkcard, but that's it. It's the accounts I have, and I called my bank to verify it was staying free.Originally posted by wyant50 View PostIt is a requirement to have someone whom is currently or was active military to open a USAA account? I considered the e-banking but I find my self using the drive thru or going inside due to their atms not accepting checks or cash deposits frequently! That alone pisses me off it happens so many times.
Chase doesn't seem to offer much more.
The best option I have been seeing is having my parents open a new account linked to theirs. Hmmm. Now if only the would do that lol!
