I used to use my smoker to make jerky and after trashing too many pounds of backstrap I bought an electric. After the first batch wondered why the hell I ever fucked with the smoker.
If you are making jerky another must is a Jerky Pistol!
Most of the cheaper ones, like the one I got from Bass Pro, do not have thermostats, just one setting, on. That is one of the reasons I returned it and got the one I posted.
So on an impulse buy, i bought the cheap ass one at fry's to tide me over until I find one i want. Probably going to go with one of the one's Chopped mentioned.
Doing a test batch first. Here's 12 hours in:
And i decided "what the hell", and gave this a shot:
I have the one you bought and it works ok and I have made a shit ton of jerky with it. Fruit takes way too long. Like someone else mentions, go to basspro or Cabelas and look at their's. .Cabelas has some really nice ones.
I recondition headlights on most cars for $50.00. If interested shoot me a pm.

god bless.
Honestly, I only used mine for jerky. But, apparently it's suppose to be good for that also, comes with trays for it.
