  • Hotel/Cruise out of Galveston

Does anybody know if there are any other hotels in Galveston (besides the Galvez) that offer free transportation to the Carnival cruise port?

We are trying to decide if we should stay the night in galveston before the cruise or just drive down the day of and park at the port. We stay at the Hotel Galvez last time and they had a bus to take people to and from the port.

Before the smartass remarks... I will be calling around to some hotels but thought maybe someone on here might have some knowledge on the subject that might lead me in the right direction.

We went this past June and drove down the day of the cruise. Not a bad drive. When we sailed out of New Orleans we stayed the night.

What cruise/when are you going ?

My wife and I are leaving Sunday to go to Cozumel, Montego Bay, and Grand Cayman and coming back next Sunday.

We drove down the day before. One flat tire and you could miss the launch. You're SOL and won't get your money back.

call carnival and they can give you hotel suggestions that offer free rides to the port. I would rather drive down the night before, stay at a hotel near by and park at the port. Back in 2007, our last cruise out of Galveston the port parking was $80 for the week.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I don't remember the names of the hotels, but we've done this twice now. There are multiple hotels down there that will not only give you a ride to the port, but also store your car while you're gone, and pick you up when you get back, as well. Just start calling some of them, and ask if they offer this service. It's was cheaper to stay for the night than to pay for parking at the port.

And, like mentioned above, all it takes is one flat tire to ruin the whole cruise if you try to drive down the day of.

                  Hotel

Candlewood Suites, 3 times pretty clean familiar with the cruise crowd.and near the beer store decent pool. Don't jump ship in Coz they can't rescue you

$70.00 to park in Carnivals lot, I don't know where they're talking about thats cheaper than parking, we stayed in the Casa Del Mar its ok and on the Seawall and you can leave you vehicle there and ride in CAPTAIN RONS CAB, but its not cheaper than the $70.00 unless its changed in a couple of years.

Yeah, I was nearly shit outta luck this year. My van's radiator sprung a leak the night before and all auto parts houses were closed. Had to pile 4 people + luggage into a 96 Saturn wagon. That was an uncomfortable trip.

Anything I should know/take ? We've never been on a cruise, so we're definitely newbies to this whole deal.

You might wanna bring some bottled water. They charge for bottled water on board. Jamaica is kind of a shit hole, I don't recommend any of the jungle excursions, I went with an all inclusive resort and loved it. Cayman will rape you without lube on a taxi, they wanted $100 for 4 people to and from a turtle farm, so if you go anywhere, take the bus.

If you want anything, just ask for it. The casino slots are loose on the first night, after that they SUCK. Blackjack tables are rigged, search till you find the table that is winning. Do anything and everything as far as shows, you will enjoy them.

Cozumel dolphins are outstanding, loads of fun. Stingrays are awesome as well, I did that 2 years ago in Cayman. Here is a pic from the dolphins earlier this year.
