Let's suppose for a moment that there is some obscure legal mechanism that will allow you to "walk away from your mortgage". And for $800 they send you reference to this legal information.

You attempt to use this, any bank or mortgage company will come after you with whole law firms. Thye will tie you up in court for a decade(or 2) and you spend years in court and hundreds of thousands in legal fees.

You are attempting to upset the mortgage status quo with financial firms that have trillions of dollars at stake, they will bury you in 200 lawyers for decades, while you pay $350 per hour to your lawyer waving this paper you bought for $800. You might even have an unusual fatal car wreck, or undiagnosed fatal illness........

It's no differnent than the folks who challenge the IRS over the 16th Amendment not being properly ratified by all 48 states in 1913, thus Income Tax is unconstitional.... The IRS is still going to seize your house & throw you in jail.

If it doesn't work, can you sue the provider of the walk-away info?

If things are that bad, bankruptcy is an option. Simply using some slight of paperwork to "walk away"because you don't want it anymore is not honorable. You signed a contract, you should honor your word. That's part of the problem with this country right now.. There are a lot of options like short sales, etc. Or getting a part time job to get over the hump could also be an option

Depends on the state. Not sure about Texas, but you can walk away from your mortgage in California. Your credit record will be destroyed for sure, but legally lenders can do nothing. Banks have agreed to not go after home owners so they can quickly turn around and sell the foreclosed properties for whatever they can get.

Whoever owns that website probably has another service hooking folks up with short sales. If he doesn't, he's a fool.

Yeah no shit... My house value has dropped 35k in 3 months because of people just walking away from their house...

So it looks like I'm giong to be a slum lord until the housing prices pick back up.
