  • How to get Internet in the Boonies?

Man, we have no internet access at our new lease and even phone signal is marginal at best. Is there anything at all that can/will help?

My wife ain't much of a hunter, but I love for her to spend the weekends out there with me. Internet would be my salvation to keep her on the lease. Any ideals? Long cable, satellite, long stick with foil on top???

Depending on where the lease it at - a 3G/4G card may work or Satellite if it's a more permanent setup.

Cell service is gonna be your cheapest solution. What carrier are you on?

I have NEATO out here. Completely wifi and they bounce the signal off a tower near you to your receiver.

Wild Blue or Hughes Net, have satellite but I think it is pretty pricey.

It works pretty well for me and it's 41 bucks a month for unlimited usage. I had Hughes net. For 36 hours.

I loaded youtube and it immediately put me over my limit and I was on "time out" for 24 hours. That wound up being closer to 28 hours because they said "ABOUT 24 hours. Sometimes we don't get around to turning it back on for a bit." Got net back and tried loading CNN and it did it again.

20 .50 caliber rounds, 2 pounds of black powder and 200 5.56 rounds later, I mailed the pieces back

I'm not sure when you had hughesnet, but the daily usage starts at 6am and runs until 2am. From 2a-6a there is not a DL limit. It's been that way for a while.

If you are aware of the daily allowance going in, it's not such a shock when you go over. Unfortunately I find most customers either were never told about it or didn't pay attention.

My Verizon phone seemed to always do well out there and in West Texas in general. A 3/4g card from them maybe a good solution, although I'd borrow a Verizon phone and verify for yourself before dropping the cash on it.

Our phones with ATT works better than those with others. I get sometimes 3 bars with a occasional 4, but with no internet signal. But its usually searching for signal to 2 bars.

One of my son's had a Verizon phone out there. About the same signal as ATT.

Cool, was just my own observation - used Pandora like crazy when doing work out there and/or driving through those areas.

Sucks - if cellular/3/4g is not an option than it would seem satellite is your best bet - unless you can find a wifi based carrier out there.

For cellular look for a 3w booster kit used in car installs. All cellphones sold today are .6w
