Also, as cheesy as it is at this point, the first "Scream" was fairly realistic and scary.

Another good one is "Kujo" for real terror. Stephen King is demented, but writes well.
Another flick that scared the holy crap out of me was "Fortress." At the time I was the same age as the children in the movie (just a little older), but that movie was intense. Another "real" scary movie.
