I think Steve was speaking in jest. Are we really do the point that we can't kid around on that subject?
Now, back on subject. IMO you can't go wrong buying a Flex. They aren't that incredibly popular and are usually heavily discounted. Skip seems to have $5000 or more off on them. The EcoBoost engine is wildly popular. You've seen for yourself how many guys on this board have them and love them. IMO the Flex's only downside is it's love it or hate it design. That has affected sales and will probably affect it long term..
There are rumors that the 2012/2013 Expedition will get a mild update and have the Ecoboost V6. There is always a chance they would show it off at the Texas State Fair if they do..
Call Skip at Grapevine Ford and see if he has any information.

Buy a used one for a lot less. Def get the awd ecoboost, for such a big vehicle, that thing moves pretty good! Only thing I'd tell you is use a high quality synthetic motor oil and change it every 4-5k miles. Direct Injection engines are very harsh on oil.

Been looking at them more & more....they make up for the odd exterior/body-shape with the interior and drive...really friggin nice on the inside! I can't believe how comfortable the front seats are. The second row has to have a console tho...it seems like it's missing something without one, and there is no arm rests on the rear seats....so the console doubles that function. You can also get the rear console refrigerated...that's pretty cool. We always use a big plug-in cooler when we travel, and that would do away with having to take up so much space with the cooler.
The Ecoboost is a must though...the regular Duratech we drove was quite gutless. However they aren't making any deals on them either...seems the EB is in high demand right now so the best deal is going to be to use my X-plan #....and with the options we're wanting comes out to $45K-$46K. I've been looking around for some used ones, not many EBs out there but I did stumbled on one down in San Antonio that looks like a good deal....

It actually has more options than what we were thinking, but hell their asking is still ~$12K less than what we would be looking at on a new one. I've talked to one of their guys about it today and he indicated that they are also a little nego on the price...he said just make us an offer.....book trade-in on this exact vehicle is showing $31,335....so I'm thinking maybe hit them at $32K and see what they say.

I am not a fan of the exterioes but that interior is really nice like you said. I like the look of the Ford Edge but it does not offer the 3rd row seating that she wanted.
Btw, we just purchased a Jeep from NP Lexus in San Antonio this weekend. They are right down the street and in the same dealer family. Great dealership to work with and buy from. Also, if you plan to finance through them they were able to get my wife 3.3% interest rate. It was 3.8% but if I bought any of their add ons it brought it down .5%. So I bought gap and it raised the montly price a whole 75 cents due to the lower interest. They financed her throughLast edited by mustangguy289; 10-04-2011, 02:38 PM.
