i remember a kid in my high school class had a perfectly restored 69 mach1. thing was fuggin' SICK. he ended up selling it after his father died to buy a BMW *rolls eyes* Also another kid had a 57 Bel air with a 502 big block and cage. drove that car every day to school till he wrapped it around a telephone pole. I had a 89 S15 pickup, and i did some STUPID shit in that truck. I'd probably be dead if i had been given a vehicle with more then 50 hp at 16.

My first car was a 74' Pinto....green with one red fender.

However, I owned this 69' RS when I was in my later 20's...it was a REALLY nice car with factory AC, deluxe interior, fold down rear seat....overall pretty well optioned. It was mostly a show car that stayed covered in my garage most of the time and went out for very occasional nice weather drives and rode to shows on a trailer. I eventually decided to sell it in 1999 after my daughter was born...to help us by a bigger house. It brought really good money from a guy up in OKC....he bought it for his 18 year old son as a senior car/highschool graduation present to be his daily driver!

1983 Chrylser LeBaron convertible. White with brown leather interior. It had the talking digital dash, which was pretty fancy for an 83.

I don't think that thing made it but 2-3 months before the motor started letting go, and we traded it in for a Plymouth Laser!

I bought it from one uncle (by marriage), and the truck was the 4 cyl/5spd, with no a/c, and lots of rust. He brought it with him when he moved down here from Alaska after they started building a house. Anyhow, one day it just wouldn't start. It would barely turn over (no start), and made a god awful rubbing sound when doing so. Mitsu dealer wanted $1500 to fix it. I paid $500 for it, and we towed it down from OK. At the time, they were widening the highway on 35 at the TX/OK border. One lane each direction. That truck came off the dolly, and hit the concrete barrier. There must have been 3 miles worth of cars backed up behind us while we were pushing it out of the way.

Anyhow, when I got it home, I fixed all the damage from the accident, and cut the catalytic converter out. Took a torch and hammer to the inside of it, welded it back up, and the truck fired right up after sitting for 7-8 months. That thing got like 28-29 mpg too!

I understand that 25k can be a lot of money, but to some its not. This may be a simple case of the privileged having their privilege or it could be that the father blew his lifes savings buying your car. I think its a mistake to assume you can draw conclusions on who someone is, or what kind of character they have based on how much they paid for something you sold. You clearly had a price that you were comfortable with and he clearly had a price he was comfortable with. What speaks more I think, is that he is wanting to invest time and money in a project with his son. I would draw from that that he wants to teach values and responsibility to his son, which is alway good. Whether or not his son learns it is not something we can accurately speculate on.

bingo, by age 16 some kids have been driving cars that weigh 1300 pounds with 900hp for 2 years already...............that slow mach 1 would be a nice cruiser to some, and not automatically gonna get torn up.

The car in my sig. 66 Mustang coupe. My dad and I restored it and I drove it all through high school and still drive it today. Well not today, it rained, but you get the idea.

My first car was a 1970 Nova. I bought it at 18 for like $1,100. Of course it was just a straigh 6 with 3 on the tree. It was clean as shit though. The car was perfect.
