But if that were the case, I'd live just fine without it.
I'm saying that prohibition doesn't work.
You say that little kids will be running around ingesting marijuana left and right if it's legalized.
I asked if there's a huge problem with little kids drinking alcohol left and right?
I said if pot were legalized, people could just grow their own and there would be no need to commit crime to get it.
You implied that people would break into homes to steal it.
Is there was a huge problem with people breaking into homes to steal alcohol?
I'm trying to draw simple logical correlations between the prohibition of marijuana and the prohibition of alcohol (which BUILT the mob)
Marijuana prohibition has BUILT the Mexican drug cartels. Way to go!!!
you rabble/rabble about somebody you saw who had addiction problems who started smoking weed first... well guess what, addicts are addicts... doesn't matter if they start on weed, legal alcohol, legal gasoline, legal paint thinner, etc. Prohibition isn't going to magically make man's desire to get fucked up go away. All it's going to do is flood prisons, take money out of the hands of law abiding citizens (victims of theft/crime/etc.) and put it in the hands of criminals.
PROHIBITION DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!!!!! It didn't work for alcohol, it's not working for marijuana.
I contend that if you're calling for the prohibition of marijuana, you're also calling for the prohibition of alcohol. It's FAR easier to make a case for prohibition of alcohol. It's a poison, it kills people (marijuana never has), etc.
But it's "accepted" because "it's legal!" and marijuana is demonized and looked down on because "it's illegal!"
breaking an illogical "law" is not immoral... enforcing them IS

Maybe if Matt had some first hand experience and tried MJ, rather than believing all the propaganda his agencies cram into his head, he might feel a little differently.
Well I know he would feel differently, I meant maybe his opinion would change

I'm not here to judge, I just don't agree with doing it. I don't want it around me. I don't think that weed is something that your body needs to survive, and even though it is natural, so is uranium, but I'm not swallowing that shit either.
I started drinking alcohol at 15, pot around 18, never did anything beyond pot in tems of "hard" drugs. Why? becuase I have self control.
There are a lot of things your body doesn't need to survive, and i'm sure you've taken those. Pain pills, coffee, preservatives in food. That point is moot.
you've yet to respond to any of Forrest's relations to alcohol/prohibition, and weed. Hell marijuana is actually on the same calibur of cigarettes, the only difference is that in order for you to homegrow and cultivate tobacco to use, you'd need quite a lot of land. For marijuana, probably just a few plants.
Regulation and taxation is what keeps marijuana from being legalized, not the hype of it's gateway effects, or it's addictive nature. Because none of those have been proven to be true.

I don't personally have any issues with social weed smoking. If I didn't have any responsibilities I probably would also. The truth is though when I smoked in college, it made me stupid. Kept getting numbers confused, and it lasted the entire day afterwards. After never smoking again, all my buddies that did smoke never lost the slower speak, and you can tell it had an effect on them."When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." -Benjamin Franklin
"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury." -Alexander Fraser Tytler

What I believe is that more and more kids will be using MJ because of the ease of availability. Just like 21 for alcohol doesn't work, 21 for MJ won't work.
Yes, people will commit crimes to get MJ, because if it were made legal tomorrow, how long does it take to grow an adult plant for production? I know it might take several years to make a mature plant. Also, if you steal MJ, how the hell are you going to prove it isn't yours? You can't serialize MJ. Since it would be hard to prove that you didn't get it illegally, how are you going to prove that the guy stole it from you?
Juvenile burglars do break into homes for alchohol, because it is hard to buy it when you are 16. Like juveniles break $600 car windows to get a $5 pack of cigarettes because the local mom&pop store won't sell it to them.
It's not "someone I've seen", after 20 years I've seen a lot more than just one or two. I've seen people high molest kids and kill people over dope.
I don't have a perfect answer, just like you don't. But you will never convince me that making drugs legal will solve our problems. I don't want a high bus driver taking my kids to school, I don't want a high welder putting together a 30 story building, I don't want a high surgeon taking my appendix.
Are you saying that you are perfectly fine with having your children exposed to a legal narcotic? Do you let kids smoke with you now?

you keep using the term "dope", and seeing kids kill over "dope".
There's no way you're saying that people only on marijuana, and that marijuana caused them to do those things.
Because I'm sure you've seen sober people, murder, molest kids, and do just as many hard crimes.
I mean I guess you are right, look how many children are running around stoned because of the legalization of marijuana in California and Colorado. Those places have turned to real shit holes. right.
As for your comments on high people doing jobs like busdriving, or construction. Legalizing marijuana for consumption does not make it legal to use while at work. It would be no different than the rules in place and laws in place for alcohol consumption as related to these same jobs and activities.
You act like legalizing marijuana means a free for all anyone can do anything with weed!!!

Everything that I have taken was legal. I've never had a cup of coffee in my life. If you really had self control, you would not be overweight.
What exactly is the specific question about prohibition of acholol vs. weed? That's a pretty damn broad topic.
