I chased an old lady down last week because her tired was dangerously low. She kept driving on these one lane street and I finally caught a break on a two lane road that she got stuck at a stop light. She was appreciative when I told her.

I've told people their hood isn't latch right (on city street, fortunately) and caught up to one person in an old 70's Chevy that didn't have his gas cap on. Every time he took a corner, I watched gallons spill out of the tank.

100% agree that it depends on what you are driving. When I am in my 252,000 mile beat up creaky, groaning Cavalier, people think I am going to rob them for everything.

Swap to a 1966 Mustang Restomod or even my 05 Scion tC, and they get a lot friendlier! I guess the more "poor" they perceive you to be, the higher chance that person wants to rob you...

usually...and also just sometimes when I'm being an asshole. Case-in-point: earlier this year when we were on vacation....traveling through a shitty part of rural Michigan there was some asshole towing a farm trailer in the left lane and he was purposely staying right next to a semi in the right lane so as not to let anyone by....doing about ~55-60 in a 70 zone. This went on for literally about 20-25 miles....caused a huge backup of cars, and I was second in line behind him. When we were finally able to get around him the truck in front of me just shot past him....I pulled up next to him and motioned for him to roll the window down (my wife was freaking out at this point)....he gave me a shitty look as though he thought I was going to bitch him out or something...instead I kindly said "hey Buddy you've got a flat tire on that trailer and pointed back towards it"....he waved to thank me and immediately pulled over to the shoulder.

...his tires were fine, but I figured it only fair to waste his time like he had done to everyone else that day.
