I hold the door for everyone even if its multiple people. I was raised with manners so I use them. I don't expect anything in return. I know not everyone understands what it means to be courteous to one another.

My entire point for our conversation was the fact that you're saying I personally shouldn't feel it's rude when someone doesn't say thank you. I feel that's rude. You said it isn't rude. Then several guys agreed it's rude. That is my whole point. I think you got confused in what you were saying earlier.
I said.... "they're not being rude, they're jsut not showing you the appreciation you would like to receive for doing them a favor" I think it's obious by that statement that it's MY opinion that it's not rude when smoeone fails to say thank you.

I said NOTHING about how your personal feeling on the subject were incorrect or otherwise...just that you obviously were expecting some form of commendation for your actions, otherwise you will consider them rude....and I never said that you shouldn't find their actions rude... I just said that in a situation like that....when I'm faced with it... I don't think it's rude. I've much bigger fish to fry than to get my panties in a twist over the lack of an occassional "thank you"

I get this all of the time. I am a manager in a Western retail store and we have a lot of families that shop with us. I very frequently use the same courtesy with the older children, calling them ma'am or sir. Hoping maybe that will instill a bit of that in them, if they aren't getting that reinforcement at home already....here is a bit of a song by a Texas, Todd Fritsch

If I open doors and say “yes ma’am”
Give up my chair and say I’ll stand
Don’t look down on my cowboy boots
Don’t be offended by my roots

That’s just Texas talkin’ way down home
Dallas/Fort Worth down to San Antone
That’s just Texas talkin’ how I’s raised
That’s just Texas talkin’ southern phrase

Grab a door...don't grab a door. WHO FUCKING CARES? If that's your revenge then by all means you be sure to not open that door for that one person and she'll be just as unaffected by your actions as she was with you opening it.

I personally grab the door every possible chance I can because that's just me. That's just how I am. I expect no thanks for doing what makes me feel good. I usually do get thanked, or there's about a 50/50 chance that the person I'm holding the door for grabs it behind me and says "No, I insist" at which point I thank them, and proceed through the door.

Not at all. Those people were likely visitors. I'm talking about people that call Reno home. Go there sometime and you will see what I mean.
