Only people i see race newer cars at the tracks are guys that are too lazy to work on their own car and buy it off the line with performance parts, the guys that actually work on their cars typically have older models.

I see people like my mom and dad both with 06 mustangs race and talk about racing but yet they both wish to have a 67/69 to race with. My dad sold his 69 mustang and regrets it and would trade his new one for the old one.

So the newer the car the lazier the driver?

I love my old cars...always will. That said, part of loving them is enjoying the noise, the extra effort to drive, putting up with the heat, smell, poor temperment, etc....it's the nostalgia. That's why I only like to drive them occassionally too.

I remember when I was ~20 years old, my daily was a 72' GS...aside from power steering and brakes that thing was hot, loud, drank gas, smelled like exhaust fumes, and handled about like it was rolling on marshmellows....it was fast in a straight line though. It was a happy day when I was finally able to park it when I could afford the Carolla wagon that replaced it as a daily. I liked it a lot more as a weekender.
