You guys should listen to this interview / podcast that just came out - seriously heavy shit.
For anyone who doesn't know the name, here's Jocko's background:
Jocko enlisted in the Navy after high school and spent 20 years in the SEAL Teams, first as an enlisted SEAL operator and then as a SEAL officer. During his second tour in Iraq, he led SEAL Task Unit Bruiser in the Battle of Ramadi — some of the toughest and most sustained combat by the SEAL Teams since Vietnam.
Under his leadership, Task Unit Bruiser (which included Marc Alan Lee, Michael Monsoor, Jonny Kim, Kevin Lacz, and Chris Kyle) became the most highly decorated Special Operations Unit of the entire war in Iraq and helped bring stability to Ramadi. Jocko was awarded the Bronze Star and a Silver Star.
Upon returning to the United States, Jocko served as the Officer-in-Charge of training for all West Coast SEAL Teams, designing and implementing some of the most challenging and realistic combat training in the world.

I'll have to listen to that one later, but Dakota Meyer was on the Cleared Hot podcast talking about his struggles after the MoH. Brings a new perspective to those who receive it.
I'll have to listen to that one later, but he was also on the Cleared Hot podcast talking about his struggles after the MoH. Brings a new perspective to it.
For sure. The Andy Stumpf (love that podcast btw) interview was good. Hearing that his MOH resides in his daughter's toybox and he will not wear it was crazy, but also makes sense after hearing him speak... but the Jocko talk... 3 hours. They really get into the shit - to the point that both of them just sit in silence at times. Way more detail than any other interview, to the point that Dakota even talked about when sat in his truck, put a pistol to his head and pulled the trigger, but a friend had unloaded his gun without him knowing, which is the only reason he's still here.
I am not going to ruin why he hates the MOH but I can see where he is coming from. You know during the silence they were seeing the past. They go into the cluster of the decision making, pisses you off that people died because of military politics.
