Not a traditional big car circa caprice, roadmaster, grand marquis etc.. This is the last of the old breed.

When your car gets rearended at 70mph, fuel is going everywhere... and your fuel pump has power running to it. You take any car and hit it from the rear at 60-80mph shit is going to go crazy. And then take into account 90% of those types of collisions involve police cruisers, and 90% of police cruisers are crown victorias... you have a problem that never existed, just a focused type of collision on 1 model of car = opportunity for attorneys to sue.

I remember when that TSB came out, all we did was put a rubber ring around the diff cover. Laughable.

I rented one of those recently and it was a lot like driving while relaxing on a couch. I now know why old people love them.

Shit man, you'll see these things driving around on 24's for another 20 years, guaranteed.

I rolled one up the coast of California a few weeks ago from San Diego to Los Angeles and I thought the car was a good highway cruiser.

Not to mention, cops carry road flares. That doesn't help.

My neighbor (Waxahachie P.D. officer) was stopped on the side of I-35 several years ago in a Crown Vic patrol car and was rear-ended by a gentleman who was about to get his 7th DWI. The DPS estimated that the car was travelling at 82 mph when it hit him. It put the back bumper against the back of the front seat. He suffered a dislocated shoulder, broken collar bone, broken scapula, severed ferenic (sp?) nerve, and lots of soft tissue damage. There was no fire, thankfully. He said that, at the time, there was no other available make of patrol car that could have withstood the impact as well.

Nice to see the last car was equipped with the popular factory wavy urethane bumper option.

I've had a few different Grand Marquis as rentals in the past two years and thought the same thing. One of them was even black on black! I thought that was neat since I only ever see old man colors.
