  • Any BMW fans?

Wife has been driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty for the better part of 4 years and is itching for something new. Evidently the newer (2009-2010) BMW 335i's have become the preferred choice.

Anyone out there have any experience with the 3 series, or BMW's in general? I hear that maintenance is a bitch/expensive, but short of that they are good cars.

Checked out eCarOne (local "luxury" used car lot) but not finding much that seems reasonable.

Anyone have a BMW hook up? I know there are plenty of $30k millionaires that should be pretty keen to these...

    BTW - I don't know the difference between an e30, e40, e36, e77, etc...

              I'd hunt around craigslist. I'd go for a 135i.

My 328i is great in most aspects, certainly for the price3 point, but I do wish I had picked up a 335i instead, or waited to get an M3. I wasn't quite sure how the new gig would pan out, and wanted a new car, so the 328i fit the bill.

The fit and finish is great, and the manual/auto tranny is fun to drive, though the 230 horses isn't cutting it any more. My best suggestion would be to get out and test drive a few. The stock suspension is fairly tight, and the sport suspension is even tighter, as are the seat bolsters, so if she is looking fo a "luxury" ride, she may not like it.

Maintenance and repairs can get costly ($100 oil changes), so I personally went ahead and got the extended warranty, and won't be paying anything but a car payment as long as I own it. Comes with roadside and a free loaner BMW any time it's in for more than maintenance.

Sad thing is that my "slouch" of a 4-door is faster than my '98 GT was.

A neighbor has a 1M, and I personally don't think it looks that great, though the turbo 6 in that smaller car is surely a blast to drive.

Good luck getting one, only going to make it one year. Will be a sought after car.

oh i have no plans to buy one. i was more or less just saying that im sure the main attraction to that car isn't the looks.

                              Where you at nowadays?

I have a '11 335i coupe. I just got past the "break in period" on the engine, so I'm just now being able to stretch her legs out. The temps are finally not in the 100's, thank god. Took her out tonight and she can run like a scalded ape... it's been fun so far! That plus having a warranty is always nice.
