  • A fun puzzle question for you

A friend of mine sent this to me, it's a good one:

The RAF consulted a statistician in WWII on where it be the most beneficial to put more armor on their bombers (Weight issues prevented everywhere). He suggested that they put it in the places that the planes showed the LEAST amount of damage.

Why would he make such a suggestion?

Because the places that showed the most amount of damage could obviously sustain that damage and still function!?

Because all the ones that sustained heavy damage in the areas he recommened, were shot the fuck down.

That still doesn't seem logical to me.

If places don't have much damage, it could mean it's less vulerable, not as exposed, or more durable. Seems they could have saved money and weight and added nothing IMO.

Genus Cobrajetus: An ancient fossilized organism with acute knowledge in surprising topics, but not much more than that. Still known to exist in large fat laden quantities and only found in the Southern Hemisphere, or in local gun ranges wreaking havoc with mega-caliber handguns.

Three businessmen out of town for business check into a hotel for the night. The hotel manager says "Alrighty men, that will be $30 for the night (they were sharing a room, don't ask). Deciding to all pay the same amount, each man handed the manager a ten dollar bill. After bidding farewell the three men headed up to their room, which was inconsequentially room 402. After the men left for their room, the hotel manager realized that he was running a special on that style of room and should have only charged them $25. Realizing this, he gave the bellhop that had escorted the men to his room $5 in ones and asked him to run the cash up to the room. The bellhop obliged, but on his way up he decided to pocket two dollars out of the five since the men didn't tip him, leaving $3 for the three men to split evenly. After all was said and done, each man spent $9 for the night's stay. 9x3=27. The bellhop only kept $2. Where did the extra dollar go?

They overpaid for the room. The bill was suppose to be $25 for all 3, the bellhop kept $2, leaving $3. $3 to each of the 3 guys means each guy paid a net of $9, or $27 total. Adding the $2 back in is irrelevant, because it was never in the final equation.
